A brief history

Katie has had a love for music since she was young.
She began learning the piano by ear at the age of eight and started violin lessons at eleven. Through the encouragement of her parents and music teachers, Katie decided to start composing and writing her own songs.

In Christmas 2016, with the huge help of her family and a couple of friends, she recorded her first song titled "He Is Holy." In May 2020, her original "Time Has No Hold" provided encouragement to listeners amidst the panic of the Covid-19 pandemic. In August 2024, she released her first independent album, Identity, as her senior capstone project at Liberty University. In March 2025, her string quartet piece, "Waltz in the Meadow" debuted publicly for the first time at a local college recital. She recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Music from Liberty University.

Though much of her musical journey has been self-taught, playing and singing in various ensembles, choirs, and orchestras, has aided in Katie's growth. She draws inspiration from many artists, including JJ Heller, Natalie Layne, and Ben Rector. But most importantly, she desires to draw inspiration from the Holy Spirit.

Katie's music philosophy

1) Music is a story. Every good story tells the bad and scary parts, but also the triumph and redemption that follows. Every aspect of music, from the chords to the melody, from the lyrics to the instruments, is important in good storytelling.

2) Music is spiritual. It either promotes evil or promotes good. Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."
